The mineralisation the Kamoa-Kakula property is typical of sediment-hosted stratiform copper deposits. The Kamoa-Kakula mineralisation, however, is unusual in that it is hosted at the base of the Grand Conglomerat, which is stratigraphically higher than the majority of Copperbelt deposits which are typically hosted by dolomitic rocks of the Mines Subgroup.
